Join fun-minded others on Saturday, July 25, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for an afternoon of board games. The Neighborly Alliance Hendo, a grassroots movement nurturing connection and belonging, is gathering for playtime and honey creemees at Hey Chickadee in Flat Rock. All are welcome.
Come solo, bring your partner, bring your family, just don’t bring your dog. Make new friends. Have a good time.
This afternoon is about supporting a local business and having fun. Join us as we build this new paradigm of neighbors—defined by shared intent, not a shared street. Games are provided. We’ll have easy-to-learn, interactive options that help build friendships in our quest to strengthen the sense of community in Western NC.

Hello Neighbors,
We are Amy, David, Dawn, Gary, Gaya, and Melinda, and over the past year have been enjoying connecting with folks in the Highland Lake area through fun events—such as those at Treska’s—and sharing potluck dinners, game nights, and holiday gatherings in people’s homes. What has emerged is a desire to reach more neighbors and to expand activities to include interacting in practical and meaningful ways. For example, you may occasionally need pet care, a ride, or tech help.
Thus, we created “Neighborly Alliance Hendo.” The survey below will help us to go to the next level. Believing that everyone has a role to play, the idea is to discover and link the interests, needs, skills, talents, and resources of people within the community through practical services, social activities, and learning—and we’d love your participation!
Please take a few minutes to complete the short survey and know there is no obligation beyond that. For those who are interested in learning more about the Neighborly Alliance Hendo and what it can mean in your life, we invite you to an introductory social gathering in the Park at Flat Rock on Sunday, June 14, from 2 to 4pm.
